WE LOVE BEES

and you should too!

Get to know the bees and the bees will get to know you!

Bees are livestock and require great care to be well taken care of. We strongly suggest taking classes, joining local groups, and getting to know local beekeepers, before beginning your beekeeping journey, to have the best chance of success at starting your own hive.

Did you know?

  • Did you know that there are more than 20,000 species of bees around the world? About 1/5 of them pollinate plants across North America.
  • Bees are an essential part of our agriculture, pollinating many fruits, nuts, and vegetables.  Their health directly impacts food security.

The simple fact is, if bees didn't exist, neither would humans.

Most of our bee questions are answered by our local beekeepers who volunteer their time. As they all have their busy schedules sometimes they will not be able to answer questions in a quick manner. So, we have provided a list of the most common questions regarding beekeeping.

When can I get queens?

The best time of year to try and get queens is April- July. Our supply comes from local beekeepers, and are subject to their availability.

What kind of bees do you sell?

We sell Italian bees, which are more commonly known for their gentle nature.

When can I order my bees?

We generally start to accept preorders for bees in January of each year, for package pickup end of April/Early May.

Should I check my Queen on pickup day?

Absolutely! Bees are livestock and we do all we can to provide each person with a quality nuc package, but we have no control over the treatment of the queen once it leaves our care. We do a quality check the morning of pickup, but check it before you go to make sure the queen is healthy and ready to go home with you.

Do you offer a Beginners Beekeeping course?

Each year varies with teacher availability, so follow us on social media for up-to-date information. There are many wonderful classes offered online all year round.

I’ve called Muddy Bees Bakery multiple times regarding a bee question and have received no answer back.

You are also welcome to reach out to any local beekeepers to see if you can schedule a time where they can come out and help you with your bee questions. They each may have a price they charge to come out to visit you and your hive.

Why do you sell bees?
